MIRANDO AL SUR

LOOKING SOUTH
Andalusia, the southernmost region of Europe has been and remains a source of inspiration for poets, musicians, painters, sculptors ... for all artists.
Andalucía, la región más al sur de Europa, ha sido y sigue siendo fuente de inspiración para poetas, músicos, pintores, escultores... para todos los artistas.

Hay imágenes de postal que son típicas de Andalucía, pero que no definen la esencia del alma de mi tierra.
There are postcard images are typical of Andalusia, but these do not define the essence of the soul of my country.

En este reportaje hago un recorrido intimista por aquello que siento en mis entrañas como mis raíces andaluzas.
In this article I make an intimate tour of what I feel in my soul as my Andalusian roots.

El Sol de mi tierra es generoso, espléndido, derrochador al igual que mi gente.

Some handmade pitchers are waiting to be finished. They are made with so much sweetness that seem chocolates.

Hasta el mar aquí tiene alma de artista y juega con la arena de la playa dibujando este bosque en llamas.
Even the sea in Andalusia has an artist soul and plays with beach sand drawing this forest burning with large flares.

 Cuando el trigo brota, el campo es de color esmeralda.
When the wheat sprouts, the field is emerald green.

Las aguas de nuestras fuentes nos regalan deliciosas composiciones cromáticas.
The waters of our fountains give us delicious chromatic compositions.

PAISAJES DE ANDALUCÍA

ANDALUSIAN LANDSCAPES (Southern Spain)

Andalucía (Andalusia) is a land of light. This word: Anda-LUZ (Andalusian) contains the essence of our nature - ( "Luz" is light in Spanish). A warm glow surrounds everything with a nice tone at dawn and dusk. At noon Andalusia is a explosion of photons that seems you are diving into the heart of the Sun.

Andalucía es una tierra de luz. La misma palabra Anda-LUZ contiene esta esencia de nuestra naturaleza. Una luz cálida envuelve todo con unos amables tonos en el amanecer y el ocaso. El mediodía andaluz es un estallido de fotones que parece sumergirte en el corazón mismo del astro rey.

 

 Desiertos, valles mediterráneos, montañas de cumbres nevadas, playas arenosas, costas rocosas, acantilados escarpados, marismas inmensas, bosques con árboles centenarios, flores únicas en el mundo, campos de oro puro, colinas de chocolate y esmeraldas, lagos color turquesa, horizontes infinitos...

Todo este derroche de belleza es Andalucía.

 Deserts, Mediterranean valleys, snow-capped mountains, sandy beaches, rocky shores, steep cliffs, inmense marshes, forest with very ancient trees (hundreds of years old), flowers which are unique in the world, fields of pure gold, hills of chocolate and emeralds, lakes in turquoise color, far and away horizons...  

All this outpouring of beauty is Andalusia.

 

Me despido con esta imagen de la Sierra de Grazalema en la provincia de Cádiz, la tierra más meridional de Europa, lugar donde se han agarrado fuertemente mis raíces.

I say goodbye to you with this image of the Sierra de Grazalema in the province of Cadiz, Europe's southernmost land, a place where my roots have gripped tightly.

Andalucía es luz, una luz con infinitos matices que dibuja un universo de paisajes tan diversos que uno parece viajar por el mundo entero en esta región de un tamaño similar al de Portugal.

Andalusia is light, a light with infinite shades that draws a universe of so many diverse landscapes in such a way that one seems to travel the entire world in this region roughly the size of Portugal.

Espero que os haya gustado este breve recorrido por las tierras de Andalucía, mi tierra.

LOS TAPIRES
 

Los tapires tienen antecesores comunes con los caballos y los rinocerontes. Al tapir también se le conoce como anta, tlapilote, danta y pinchaque. En lengua guaraní se les llama "mboreví". 

Miden aproximadamente desde los 1,8 metros hasta los 2,5 metros de longitud. Su altura en la cruz varía de 70cm a un metro en los individuos adultos. Su cola mide de 5 a 10cm de largo. Pueden llegar a pesar entre 220 y 300 kilos.

Su especialmente alargado hocico tiene una pequeña trompa que es muy útil a la hora de atrapar las plantas acuáticas de los pantanos y arrancar hojas y raíces que constituyen su alimento. Su fisonomía es visiblemente robusta y compacta. Son tremendamente ágiles y fuertes, pues se mueven con gran rapidez entre el denso follaje tropical.

Los tapires habitan en los bosques selváticos húmedos de Sudamérica. El tapir de montaña habita únicamente en las tierras altas andinas.

Actualmente este bello mamífero es una especie amenazada.

TAPIRS

Tapirs have common ancestors with horses and rhinos. This animal is also called anta, tlapilote, danta and pinchaque. In the Guarani language, the tapir is called "mboreví."

They measure from approximately 1.8 to 2.5 meters. Their height at the withers varies from 70 cm to one meter in adult individuals. Its tail is 5 to 10cm long. They can weigh between 220 and 300 kilos.
 
Their elongated snout especially has a small trunk that is very useful to catch aquatic plants of the marshes and pluck leaves and roots are food. Its appearance is visibly robust and compact. They are extremely agile and strong as they move rapidly through the dense tropical foliage.

Tapirs live in the humid rainforests of South America. The mountain tapirs live only in the Andean highlands.

Today this beautiful mammal is an endangered species.

DELFINES ENTRE UN MAR Y UN OCEÁNO

DOLPHINS IN THE GIBRALTAR STRAIT
These lovely and powerful procession of acrobats are the god Neptune welcome that greets every vessel that enters his domains (the mythic Mediterranean Sea), delighting us with their company and their tricks.

Estos simpáticos y poderosos acróbatas del Dios Neptuno son el cortejo de bienvenida que saluda a toda embarcación que entra en sus dominios (el mítico mar Mediterráneo), deleitándonos con su compañía y con sus piruetas.

Cuando me encontré a este hermoso delfín en las piscina de un zoo, sentí claustrofobia al ver a este grande y poderoso corcel marino encerrado en un espacio tan pequeño en comparación con su inmenso hábitat. No parecía tan feliz como aquellos delfines que vi jugando en la proa de un barco en pleno mar abierto entre el Mar Mediterráneo y el Océano Atlántico.

When I found this beautiful dolphin in the pool at a zoo, I felt claustrophobic to see this great and mighty marine steed enclosed in a space so small compared to its vast habitat. It did not seem as happy as those dolphins that I had seen playing in the bow of a ship in the middle of the Gibraltar Strait, in the open sea between the Mediterranean Sea and the Atlantic Ocean.

Éste es el llamado Estrecho de Gibraltar, las montañas que lo flanquean eran conocidas en la mitología de la Grecia clásica como las columnas de Hércules. En la imagen vemos la silueta de las montañas de África, a mi espalda está Europa.

This is called the Strait of Gibraltar, the mountains that flank it were known in the mythology of ancient Greece as the pillars of Hercules. In the picture we see the silhouette of the mountains of Africa. Europe is at my back.
