A WILDLIFE SANCTUARY: GUADALQUIVIR MARSHLANDS.

UN PARAÍSO DE VIDA SALVAJE: LAS MARISMAS DEL GUADALQUIVIR.

Las marismas del Guadalquivir son todo un paraíso para los amantes de la belleza más genuina de la naturaleza salvaje. Están consideradas como el mayor delta interior de Europa con sus 2.000 km². En su interior se encuentra el Parque Nacional de Doñana y el Parque Natural Entorno de Doñana, aunque es en todo su conjunto (incluso en las áreas no protegidas) un área donde abunda la vida salvaje de los ecosistemas salvajes de los humedales y su entorno: el matorral mediterráneo.

Algunas de las especies más emblemáticas de este ecosistema las he reunido aquí en este reportaje que espero que sea de vuestro agrado.

A WILDLIFE PARADISE: THE EVERGLADES OF THE RIVER GUADALQUIVIR.

The marshes of the river Guadalquivir (south west coast of Spain) are a paradise for lovers of the genuine beauty of the wild nature. They are considered the largest inland delta in Europe with its 2,000 km ². Inside lies the Doñana National Park and Natural Park of Doñana Environment, although throughout the whole area you can find abundant wildlife which is typical in the Mediterranean wetland ecosystems and their environment: the Mediterranean scrub.

I have gathered here some pictures of the most emblematic species of this ecosystem in this report which I hope you enjoy it.

FESTIVAL FLAMENCO - FLAMENCO'S PARTY

Espero que os gusten estas fotografías de flamencos, unas criaturas de belleza y elegancia espectacular. Disfrutad de este festival visual de "flamencos puros".

I have used the spanish word "flamenco" instead of flamingo, because in spanish the word "flamenco" has these two meanings: flamingo and flamenco songs and dance. So I have played with this linguistic game. I hope you enjoy these pictures in which flamingos are the only protagonits. I love these wonderful, beautiful and elegant creatures.

THE BIGGEST ONE

EL MAYOR ANFIBIO DE EUROPA
El gallipato (Pleurodeles waltl) es el mayor anfibio urodelo de Europa, un tritón que puede llegar a alcanzar los 30 cm de longitud, de los que aproximadamente la mitad corresponden a la cola. Esta especie del orden pleurodeles es un ejemplar endémico de la Península Ibérica y Marruecos. Se encuadra en la familia Salamandridae, la misma que la salamandra común y la mayoría de los urodelos europeos.

En cada costado se hace visible una hilera de 7 a 10 manchas anaranjadas que coinciden con los extremos de las costillas y por donde, en ocasiones, asoman los extremos de éstas, considerado este hecho como un mecanismo de defensa por diversos autores. Este mecanismo podría ser considerado como un primitivo y rudimentario sistema de inoculación, aunque es totalmente inofensivo para el hombre.

EUROPE'S LARGEST AMPHIBIOUS 
The Iberian ribbed newt or Spanish ribbed newt (Pleurodeles waltl) is a newt endemic to the central and southern Iberian Peninsula and Morocco. It is known for its sharp ribs which can puncture through its sides, and as such is also called the sharp-ribbed newt. The newt is the largest amphibious of Europe, a newt that can reach 30 cm in length, of which about half are in the queue. It belongs to the family Salamandridae (order Urodela), the same as the salamander and most specimens of the order.

On each side is a row of visible 7-10 orange spots that match the ends of the ribs and where sometimes poke the ends of these, regarded this as a defense mechanism by various authors. This mechanism could be considered a primitive and rudimentary system of inoculation, but is harmless to humans.
